The home of the Beast is enchanted with some sort of magic that aids the objects to move. But, before this occurs, what causes her to lead this fate is a rose. A rose could be seen as a motif in this film, yet it is not one of the motifs seen in the other fairy tales in the course. An additional motif in the film is the magic powers in the castle of the Beast and the magic powers the Beast has. Even though the Beast was not an original magic being himself, magic was a great part of the story in the film. When Belle’s father arrived to the Beast’s home, he was startled by the things he saw in this home. He saw objects that were moving on their own …show more content…
Once Belle returns home briefly, one of her sisters attempts to wear the pendant, but when her sister touches the pendant, the pendant turns into a horrible, ugly different object. In this situation and many others, the magic the Beast has aids Belle in the home of the
Beast and while she is in her home. Belle’s pendant can be consider as a motif as well, since in the fairy tale of The Three
Pomegranates and many other fairy tales, the hairpin is considered a motif connected to women.
Another motif in Beauty and the Beast is Belle’s sisters. In Vasilisa the Beautiful, Tam and Cam and Hansel and Gretel, all these fairy tales had evil step-mothers and/or evil-stepsister that attempted to enslave or hurt the heroine, but their attempts ultimately failed. Even though Belle’s father lived comfortably, Belle’s sisters were still interested in searching for a more comfortable life with a wealthy man. Additional ideas and images seen in Beauty and the Beast and other fairy tales were widower fathers. In Beauty and the Beast, Belle’s father was a widower father, who was not remarried, but he later became worried about his daughters futures. A widower father is also seen in the Tam and Cam fairytale where Tam’s mother dies, but in Tam and Cam, her father died as well and she was left with only her step-mother and step-sister Cam. Also in Hansel and Gretel where Hansel’s and Gretel’s mother died and in Vasilisa the Beautiful, Vasilisa’s mother died and her father remarried, since he became a widower. Another idea and image seen in Beauty and the Beast and other fairy tales was the noble, nice and humble receiving great rewards in the end. In The Three Pomegranates, The
