In the book “The Chocolate War” symbolism is viewed and it is important since it reveals a better understanding of what’s going on throughout the story. The chocolates in the story symbolize strength to fight, they demonstrate how it is possible to fight back to conformity. However, that soon changes and chocolates become a symbol for war. The rest of the students from school start thinking that Jerry, the protagonist, feels superior from everyone else and they get angry at him and they sell the chocolates again.
