Beyond that, the motif of snowfall grants Edward a way to bring happiness to himself. The most iconic snowfall scene is when Edward is manipulating a block of ice into an angel. Snow sets a soft yet mysterious mood to the film, and provides a peaceful way to interact with others. The scene shows him physically interacting with Kim; his secret love. In previous scenes, we are opened to Edward’s struggles with not be able to physically interact with others, due to his scissor hands. Snowfall poses a perfect opportunity for Edward to touch Kim, without causing harm to her in any way. It allows him to push aside his emotional fears with happiness. After Edward’s execution from the town, Edward settles to his attic, accompanied by the abundance of ice sculptures. Almost things of Edward’s kind contrast to the world around him, including the snowfall he produces. His world is unaccustomed to anomalous behavior or appearance, and snow is a specific deformity which his world didn’t face until Edward introduced it.
