In the town of Tress Camarones the daily life of Nayeli and her friends is a simple life but it lacks adventure and the girl’s spend most of their free time dreaming of how beautiful things are in the United States. They absorb different cultures throw a computer that was given to them by a friend name Matt who was station there because he was a missioner. All the girls and Tacho have their own unique personalities and ideas of what life must be like in the United States. During one day when the girls go out to catch crabs Nayeli had notice how the crabs would climb to the top of the bucket, but another crab would drag it down. Through their journey to Tijuana there are different conflicts presented to the characters in which they were unaware of and the different borders they must face in order to get to the real border. One of the conflicts of a symbolist border is demonstrated when the Mexican soldiers pull the bus over. In that scene the soldiers are looking for what they call “Mojados” which they are referring to immigrants who have come in to Mexico illegally (70). This scene demonstrates how there are many borders throughout the country that can put a hold on a person seeking a better life, not just the border between Mexico and the U.S like how Urrea has refers to in his novel. As presented there are many difficulties of living in two different worlds like the immigrants in the story that come from Colombia, who are faced to suffer humiliation from the hands of another culture. At that point the border is no longer just a figure of speech but the real thing. In the attempts to cross the border there are some difficulties presented in crossing and there is a scene of the border patrol agents. We get a glimpse of the point of view from an agent by the name of Arnie who has been on the force for twenty seven years and has had his share of personal problems from marriage to health ones and we get his taught of the immigration system (157). We come to find out that the number of illegal immigrants trying to cross has gone down and the beef up of more agents has gone up (158). The girls’ cross the border and Nayeli in accompany with Atomiko, Tacho and Chava head to get Angel to join the group. On their way they stop in a super market in the town of Del Mar to pick up groceries. At the super market Tacho and Nayeli are confronted with two racist skin heads that call them illegals and that is there first experience of racism which puts a social border that they must cross to complete their mission
