Symbolism Of Blood In Macbeth Essay

In the tragic play, “Macbeth,” William Shakespeare demonstrates how Macbeth seeks for higher power and he is king by do evil things to his fellow friends. One symbol that is used throughout the play of Macbeth, is the use of blood to signify the victim's loss of life along with the victim's death and the loss of moral conscious in Macbeth and Lady. Shakespeare uses the imagery of blood to show the audience how an over abundance of ambition can lead to the breaking moral constraints. One way blood is used is to symbolize the loss of Banquo and Duncan’s life whenever they get slaughtered by Macbeth and the assistance of Lady Macbeth. Both of them have become infected with the “stain” of blood that has made them lose their sense of remorseful guilt to a dry acceptance. The initially response of the first murder she has no regards for human remorse for death. She plays a nonchalant role at criticizing Macbeth and questioning his manhood whenever he murders. However the realizations of the bloody murders starts to get to her when she has spells of bad dream. She imagines blood stains and she counts them imagining how the incurable guilt has come in her dreams. She visualises the blood stains and tries to wash them off of her hands. She continues stating the “The Thane of Fife had a wife”, meaing she lost her sense of being a normal human being. When you compare Lady Macbeth to the beginning of the play to the end, she metamorphosis from having a clear state of mind to being consumed with guilt. Even Macbeth has spiraled into a several nervous breakdowns worried that someone might figure out he was the one to blame for the deaths’ or others would try to take his crown.
