Symbolism In To This Day

In “To This Day”, a poem by Shane Koyczan,Part 3 is filled with symbolism.
In the beginning of part 3, it states how the girl was called ugly. In the video, big lips are calling her ugly. This shows that symbolism is being used to show she is being called ugly by the majority, because the lips are bigger than she is. In the center of part 3, the author states “but the school halls were a battleground where we found ourselves outnumbered day after wretched day.“ The symbolism is the school halls were a battleground, with him saying that the hallways were chaotic. This shows that Part 3 of “To This Day” is filled with symbolism.
