My first symbol would be the brick wall that Bobby paints on. This is symbolic to bobby's life and how he id feeling. It relates to coming of age because it shows how Bobby feels while he is trying to grow up for feather. It represents Bobby because he paints every one in his life and how he doesn't know who he is any at that point in time. He paints his pain on the wall with the colors black, red, blue, and green. "Where the hell did this wall come from anyway? It's just standing here in the …show more content…
It represents the pain that bobby feels that he uses on the brick wall which is my first symbol. Going with the whole subject of coming of age this goes along because show what Bobby feels while he is going threw the process of comming of age. Black represents darkness and pain when you think of it, its not a happy bright color. "Pretty soon he's going to have to look inside the carrier and make up a face for the kid if it's gonna be following him all over the dammed place anyway." Or "i want to spray black, greens, and reds all over this office and cover the smiling faces of the kids and the grown-ups." Found in book.
This symbol is good because it ties in two things, how Bobby feels and who Bobby is.
My last symbol would have to be the arcade. The arcade is a symbol of Bobby's youth and still wanting to be a child. It relates to coming of age because it shows that Bobby is still wanting to be a child. Like when he sees a arcade and wants to go in or when asks his mom to watch feather so he can go to the arcade with his friends. "When I mentioned how tired i was and how maybe i wanted to go out awhile at the arcade." Said Bobby.
This symbol really works with this book because it show that Bobby want to be a kid he isn't ready to grow up, he's only
