Symbolism In Stay Gold

Improved Essays
In Stevie Wonder’s song, Stay Gold, it expresses how everything you see will not last forever. For instance, there was a line that defines the aspect of the song: “You thought that all would last forever but like weather, nothing can ever… be in time to stay gold”. It was a reference to Chapter 9 because it was desired to illustrate the correspondence between Ponyboy and Johnny. In other words, Johnny and Ponyboy couldn’t be together for long since there wasn’t anything that Johnny could do except leaving his life in ruins. Johnny didn't have anybody to support him except Pony and Dally. For instance, his parents and the things he had done caused him to hate his life.

As you read, it seems like every line is saying "Nothing Gold Can Stay"—just in a different way in each line, and that notion is quite radical. The title doesn't just say that most gold things don't last. It tells us that nothing and absolutely nothing, gold does. You might look at some gold jewelry and think to yourself, "I paid a lot of money for this jewelry, this will never fade" and you would probably be right. But this is not the kind of “gold” Robert Frost is talking about in the poem.…

I imagine James Still in his little shack with his typewriter and a big burden on his heart. Now, I’m sure he had more than one burden, but I can’t help but notice all the descriptions of the physical beauty of Appalachia. So, I think one of those burdens must have been planting a love for his home in the heart of his readers. He did this through the perspective of a tenderhearted seven year old boy and his five year old little brother. In this analysis I will compare the two boys’ perspectives of Appalachian nature and how it affected their lives.…

If there is anything that can be learned from the stories and myths of Prometheus, Faust, and Frankenstein, it is that knowledge, in its various forms, can lead to suffering and pain. The Fountain, a film released in 2006, can join in this tradition of the archetypal theme of forbidden knowledge; there is a disclaimer, though: when it comes to death, the knowledge of acceptance should overcome the knowledge of how to reject it. Written and directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, it is a film which incorporates three different storylines centered around the same couple portrayed by Jackman and Weisz during different points in history: Queen Isabella and Tomas the conquistador during the Spanish Inquisition; the modern day Scientist, Tommy Creo, and his wife Izzie; and Tommy of the future,…

Research Paper: Gem of the Ocean August Wilson 's Gem of the Ocean, set in Pittsburgh in 1904, is full of symbolism. “All Star” by Smash Mouth is encouraging song about choosing to be spectacular at what you do. The tone of the song is quite casual, written in first person and as if it was a conversation between the listener and the singer. It starts off with the singer admitting that “somebody once told me that the world is going to roll me”, and that he “ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed”. Clearly he doesn’t think that he amounts to much in the long run when it comes to following the rules and book smarts. This is furthered by him going to say that “it didn’t make sense not to live for fun, your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb”.…
