In the quote, "The perpetually somber skies began to drizzle relentlessly. Biting winds blew in from the southwest, kicking up legions of white caps on Lake Washington." In both books, greed is a reoccuring theme. The characters lives are always met with insant gratification. In brave New World this is just the result of the system that controls their society. In The Great Gatsby it is a product of wealth and riches. In each of the novels there is a character that tries to blend with society even though they come from a very different world. In the case of The Great Gatsby, Gatsby comes from a poor background and a family of farmers. In the case of Brave New World, John the Savage comes from a Savage reservation. Another thing the two novels have in common is how the societies in each are quite judgemental of others. In brave New World this is a result of the uniformity of the society.
