First, the story “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut has many examples of symbolism and allusion. One instance of symbolism “Harrison Bergeron” was when Harrison was standing up from the guards and from the dictator he was kinda like a hero, he was fighting for his rights and wanted to break the system so he could be free and when the sirens are going off in George Bergeron’s head one of the sounds that go off is a twenty-one gun salute which could be a foreshadow to Harrison's death and they only do that for heros. One good instance of symbolism is the lottery, everyone knows the lottery as a great one dollar to fame but in this short story the lottery is not what you want, because in this story lottery winners get stoned. Another instance from “The Lottery” is the stool brought on stage is not what people usually think of when you think of a stool, everyone knows a stool as an item that holds you or something.But in this story people think of it as supporting it or helping the box that holds all of the lottery names.
