In the book, Earth is being controlled by the Overlords where everyone just watches
TV as form of entraining themselves. This goes to shows how our society is today and how it is similar to
how the Overlords trying to create a utopian society in Earth where “there is nothing left to struggle for”
(135). Where people every day tend to watch TV that has over 100 channels and that you could just fall
asleep while watching it and do nothing else; this is another example of how we are today. We are
revolving around this so-called “entertainment” that comes to us through a “box”. Where we spend
hours upon hours whether it is catching up on the latest news, watching some of the latest talk show
host or just going onto YouTube and watch videos from your own computer or mobile device. This
deprives us from what “real” entertainment was like before, where we had to use “imagination” and we
created a way to entertain ourselves through “artistic traditions” (135) such as making a play or home
