Ultimately, Avatar is a strong compelling movie that reinforces history, it does this by making it a metaphoric story. It shows the powerful messages that can be passed along and should be learned from. James Cameron is trying to teach that having an imperialistic mindset will only lead to downfall. He highlights the negative effect of taking something that is not rightfully meant for the person. He shows this through the great degradation of a powerful greedy corporation by a group of Tribes. He shows these methods through different symbolic ideas portrayed in the story.
