The book, A Clash of Kings, has many examples of symbolisms. The first is the red comet that dominates conversation for the opening chapters of the book. Many groups take this as a sign from the gods as an omen for war and bloodshed; however, from the reader’s perspective this comet is signaling the start of major changes in the coming years. One of these major changes is an end to summer, which is another symbol. In this story summer last for years and is viewed as a time of plenty and happiness. But, is followed by a prolonged, harsh winter. The looming end of summer tells how there will be a coming end of peace in the seven kingdoms.
