Pink has traditionally been considered a color associated with innocence and girlish youth. At the beginning of the story, Faith is described with thouse characteristics by Brown. The ribbons appear again, when Brown is struggling in the forest and Brown assumes that his wife has lost her faith in god and turned to the devil (“My Faith is gone!”). The idea that Faith threw her ribbions away shows just how she would lose her pure nature when accepting the devil. This stunning realization, is what fully seems to drive Brown down the path towards the devil with hopes that somehow he will be able to save Faith.
As stated above, Brown is unsure that Faith keeps herself from accepting the devil. However, when he sees Faith again she is described as wearing the pink ribbions again and dashing towards Brown so happy she “almost kissed her husband before the whole villiage”.
