Observation of Sydney Donner
For the assignment I observed my niece Sydney Donner, however, I took myself out of being a family member and became an individual who was just analyzing her. Sydney is a four year old little girl, who is full of energy which shows in my observation. I observed her quite early, but this did not cease her from being the hyper child I know. I observed her at her house during/after breakfast time. Even though I am the child’s aunt, her mother did not mind me observing her because it benefit us both. She gets to learn more about how her child is developing and I get to observe and understand a child her age. Afterwards, I completed my research I then read her what I determined from her child and how much she compares to other children her age.

By Sydney moving and multitasking frequently at the time I observed her, I found it hard to write down everything that she had done. I tried to get every important point down or almost everything she had said written down. Sydney has a younger sister, which I also included in my observation, because during the hour I watched her they frequently talked to each other. Most of their conversations were nonsense, however, Hayden does get most of her language from her older sister Sydney. Although, both girls frequently talked it was hard to hear and write everything down that Sydney said, because she was born with a cleft palate and her speech is hard to understand, she did attend speech therapy however, at the moment is not attending. It was also difficult to write down everything since she and her younger sister Hayden talk at the same time to one

This assignment helped me immensely on familiarizing myself with interpersonal relationships. It taught me different elements of how exactly children learn from the environment around them and how they learn from the people they are surrounded by. Throughout the paper I broke down his behavior patterns and learned why exactly he was doing the things he was doing.…

I kept my observations to myself, never interfering with what he was doing and never informed him I was watching, although I did tell his parents. Molly’s areas of weakness are semantics, pragmatics, syntax/morphology. Semantics is one of her areas of weakness because Molly has a limited expressive vocabulary. For example, during her conversation with her therapist she was asked “tell me about this pet”, molly answers by saying “Got a pet”, she is unable to describe how her pet looks or what’s its name, the only thing she’s able to express to the therapist is that her family does have a pet. Many kids by this age have a vocabulary of approximately 2,600 words and are able to give descriptive details of their pet and keep up the conversation by using more than two words, which leads to the next issue. Molly’s weakness in pragmatics, she has difficulty answering questions and maintaining…

I want to start off this part of the assignment by saying I am sorry. I feel as if I did not do as well as I wished I did. Unlike the first child, I did not know this mother and the child personally, and before I went to the home, I was sick to my stomach become I was so very scared and nervous to meet the mother, especially because it was at her home, and I sort of felt as if I was intruding (though she was very pleasant, and kind). I really wanted to work with Denise again, and with another child since she has an endless amount of knowledge about children, and why they may be functioning the way they are.…
