Security and privacy has become a great everyday concern to people. Artists responded to these uncertainties by creating different pieces of artwork to express their feelings. When people walk into the San Jose Museum of Art, they immediately receive a warm welcomed by a lovely receptionist. After showing them a form of identification, such as a SJSU student ID card, and paying a 6 dollar entry fee, they provide a copy of the museum's layout in case people get lost in their spacious building. If people ask nicely, the receptionist is willing to enlighten them about the museum's exhibits. As a significant contributor, she contributed Bike Rides, Pretty Tough: Contemporary Storytelling, Kathryn Spence: Dirty and Clean, and Fritz Haeg: Something for Everyone. San Jose Museum of Art states that "Monica has broad interests who is attuned to the community. Her background in art, architecture, and design will allow San Jose Museum of Art grow. Her passion and commitment to supporting regional artists and her global perspective are vital to the Silicon Valley. She will be a surprising voice in the Bay Area arts community." Monica Ramirez-Montagut worked hard and obtained a bachelor of architecture degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. She decided to also work for, and receive her master of architecture and Ph.D. from the University Politecnica de Catalunya, ETSAB, in Barcelona. Monica enjoys exploring the intersections of art, design, and culture. These traits are shown in her collaborative exhibitions. Monica has published a lot of material discussing art, design, and architecture over the years. Some of her other publications include Revisiting the Glass House: Contemporary Art and Modern Architecture, an essay in Claiming Space: Mexican Americans in US Cities, and Frank Lloyd Wright Mid-Century Modern. Not only has she published a couple of articles, she has won some awards over the years too. These include the "Accent in Architecture Award" from the American Architectural Foundation for Building it Wright in 2005! Another award in 2005 for the Smithsonian Institute for Interpretation and Representation of Latino Cultures Fellowship in Washington, DC.
