Twitter is a social media platform where users can follow: their friends, favorite celebrities, and companies and brands that they are a fan of. Users are able to send and read 140 character messages called “Tweets”. They are also able to post pictures, videos and links to websites from their twitters. Users are allowed to share information constantly and discover what is going on all over the world. Twitter was created by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Noah Glass and Biz Stone and launched on March 21, 2006. As of March 2016, there are an estimated 320 million active users on Twitter. 32% of Twitter users are between the age of 18-29, 29% are between 30-49, 13% are between 50-64 and 6% are over the age of 65. Yelp is one of the hottest social media marketing tools online right now. It is a platform formed like a large bulletin board where users can publish their experiences and reviews about local businesses they have previously visited, whether it is negative or positive. This is helpful for other users who would like to gain vital information about an establishment that they wish to visit in the future. Consumers tend to trust the opinions of other patrons more than they do the opinion of the actual establishment. Yelp also trains small businesses in how to respond to the reviews posted on the website. The users on Yelp between the age of 18-34 are 41.4%. 37.8% are between 35-54, and 19.8% are over the age of 55. More than half of the users at 57.5% are college graduates with 46.9% making $100,000 or more annually. On average 145 million people visit Yelp monthly and there are 2.8 billion claimed local businesses on the website. This social media service was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and put in motion October 2010. As of 2016, there are an estimated 500 million users on Instagram. Over half of the users on Instagram are between the ages of 18-29 at 55%, 28% are between 30-49, 11% are between the ages of 50 and 64, with 4% of the subscribers being over 65. The highest percentage of education for Instagram users is some college with 32%. The largest percent of their users make between $50,000 and $74,999 a year, with 30%.
