In recent years, as organizations continue to adopt outsourced models for automating critical business processes, SaaS is becoming more attractive for many service providers as well as independent software vendors (ISVs).

SWOT Analysis
Through this single-source approach, service providers like the SaaS firm will reduce internal operating costs and help lower total cost of ownership for customers. Implementation time is shortened and greater user acceptance is achieved. Besides, under this model, software features can be easily enabled or disabled by customer or user based on a specific industry, work environment, or other criteria.

Some limitations slow down the acceptance of SaaS and prohibit it from being used in some points:
SaaS applications are hosted in the cloud, far away from the application users. This brings latency into the environment; for example, the SaaS model is not suitable for applications that demand sub-second response

According to a recent Gartner report, small, medium and large businesses alike are realizing the business benefits of SaaS and are actively considering its deployment.
With opportunity come risks and threats. For vendors just like the SaaS firm, the main challenge is the lack of awareness coupled with understanding about the success of SaaS. Since channels do not own the software, there are concerns about immediate adjust of faults, especially in an emergency.
What’s more, SaaS is at an initial stage in the country and is not yet to prove its value for the partners and consumers. Since the service has not gained in the market, the margins in this business are around 5 to 10 per cent, which is still lesser than the common expectation of around 25 per cent. However, with increasing adoption, SaaS is expected to reach a level where the demand will determine the price of the offering, making the whole implementation worth the effort. (Akanksha, 2009)
