Fall ball is a great opportunity for lacrosse coaching staffs to assess their team's strengths and weaknesses and see which underclassmen are ready to take on a bigger role. It is also a great opportunity for teams to build the camaraderie and communication skills that will be necessary for teams to have a successful season and a deep run in the playoffs come Memorial Day.

While Fall Ball wins and losses shouldn't be taken too seriously, the scrimmages can be fans' and commentators' first opportunity to see the 2017 version of teams, including perennial lacrosse powers like UNC, Duke, Syracuse, Virginia, Maryland and Denver. It is also a great opportunity to see which other teams may be ready to topple one or more of the traditional lacrosse powerhouses.

UNC struggled against Ohio State during Fall Ball but that might be more a commentary on the strong year Ohio State is likely to have than it is a sign of weakness from the NCAA reigning champions.

Syracuse participated in the HEADStrong Foundation Fall Ball tournament and scrimmaged a number of teams, most notably Penn and Lehigh. Syracuse had a number of players injured but Coach Desko was still disappointed with his team's efforts, particularly their lackluster offensive output and poor

Eleven years prior, school football player Kevin Plank became weary of changing the overwhelming, sweat-soaked cotton T-shirts under his pullover. He contrived a skin-tight engineered shirt that "wicked-away" sweat - and took advantage of a profound unmet need among competitors. Presently, Under Armour is the lord of the "pressure" athletic clothing business sector, coming to the distance down to the grade school play area, where its $20-$40 T-shirts and turtlenecks are must-have things. In the interim, CEO Plank has fanned out to offer everything from gloves to duffel sacks. That has sent deals taking off 56% a year since 2002, to $271.3 million in 2005.…

There is a strong belief throughout the locker room that the Huskies are going to come out with a win, but the extra push from Coach Dale might send them into the “big headed” mindset. This is why Dale announces “there's a tradition in tournament play to not talk about the next step until you've climbed the one in front of you. ”(1) If one faces the obstacles in front of them before anything else it seems as if they will go a lot further. It becomes very easy for any athlete to think they will beat their opponent, but it is surprising how many upsets happen in the world of sports.…

The 45th annual BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl features two of college football’s top traditional powers. On New Years Day, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will battle in sunny Glendale, Ariz. Ohio State The Buckeyes saw their College Football Playoff hopes disappear when Michigan State Spartans kicker Michael Geiger hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the Horseshoe on Nov. 21. Requiem For The Big East is about a great conference that dominated men’s college basketball for a long time of the past 35 years, held the highest conference tournament at New York’s Madison Square Garden. It’s too satisfying in the long run, continually returning to the final Syracuse/Georgetown conference matchup in the semifinal of the 2013 Big East tournament. Conferences like the Pac-12, the Big Ten, and ACC that have had relatively equal success in football and basketball are still standing. And it’s sad that the Big East, the main event for the northeast basketball schools that often didn’t have the best campuses of state universities elsewhere in the country, was forced to participate in an athletic revenue…

One accomplishment that took a great deal of effort was lacrosse. Right from the start of freshman year, I knew that I wanted to become a good lacrosse player, enough to make an impact on the game. I did numerous clinics and leagues for two years straight, I worked as hard as I possibly could to become the player I wanted to be. Throughout my training, there were times where I felt like I was never going to be as good as I longed to be, but my family and my coach motivated me to work through because they felt that the hard work would be worth it. Whenever I was feeling like this, I would always turn to them because they reminded me of how hard I worked and how great I would feel once I felt the reward.…
