On August 17, 1992, conservative commentator Patrick J. Buchanan addressed the Republican National Convention, delivering a speech that would long be remembered as the definitive statement of the American "culture war." Diagnosing the national condition as one of spiritual decline, Buchanan neatly divided the American populace into two competing camps— one that was traditional, patriotic, and conservative, and another that was radical, deviant, and fiercely liberal. A vote for George H. W. Bush, Buchanan declared, was a vote for the former; a vote for William Jefferson Clinton was a vote for the latter. If Americans were to emerge from their spiritual descent and return to the "Judeo‐Christian" values upon which the nation was founded, it was…

While watching Senator Lindsey Graham question Judge Sotomayor, I felt as though even though he said that he liked her as a person some of the questions and statements he said to her was pretty harsh. The first thing that I thought he said that was inappropriate was when he asked her about the Constitution and the 1st trimester abortion, I thought that was out of line because everyone have their own opinion about abortion depending on what they believe in, and they shouldn’t be judge for that. The next thing that I thought was inappropriate was when he was talking to her about how more women and minorities were going to start getting more involved and change the laws. Just because more minorities and women are going to be involved don’t meant that they will change anything. The last thing that I thought was inappropriate was when he…

    1. The message I take with me by listening to his speech is that if we want things to change if we don’t want to see more violence between races, if we don’t want to see more discrimination, if we don’t want to see more people struggling just to get something to eat everyday, then we need to open our eyes and see clearly that the problem is not with a specific race or the “special” treatment other race get, the problem is that people with a lot of power puts us on situations like this so that they can live out of our expenses .
