Secrets for Success in Using the NLP Technique

1. Speed. Just like any other NLP technique or tool that leverages on the use of submodalities, speed is necessary for success in using this NLP technique.

2. Since the Swish Pattern is a tool that works with submodalities, it is especially helpful for people who habitually think in terms of pictures (visual).

3. According to one of the presuppositions of NLP, there's a positive intention behind every behavior. Unless the positive intention of the negative habit is preserved, the benefits that Swish Pattern brings about may only be short-termed. We understand learning this NLP technique can be confusing, especially when this is your first time being exposed to this technique.

Like you, some of our NLP practitioners also encountered difficulty when learning this technique in our NLP certification program.

However, with practice, you will see that this NLP technique is actually very easy to learn and apply.

This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…

We all have habits, either good or bad. When we talk about habits, we automatically think of the bad ones we have developed, but whether they are bad or good; we often try or look for ways to change or break our habits. In the book, “The Power Of Habit” by Charles Duhigg. He argues that we develop habits as a way for our brains to save us time and effort, and once we develop a certain habit, it will not go away, but it can be changed.…

Whether it was run on sentences, proper citations, an overall passive writing style, or proper use of pronouns my writing style needed a tune up. After taking this class I have an improved overall understanding of the writing process and how to apply it in different writing situations. Run on Sentences were a concern before I took the class, however now I have a much better understanding of proper sentence structures.…

In the book The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, he claims people can understand and change personal habits. Duhigg provides a description of the so-called habit loop composed of a cue, routine, and reward, pointing out the cues start habits and rewards signal the brain to remember routines. In fact, the author's purpose is to inform the reader about habit loops so they can see how habits work and thus remake them. With Duhigg’s insight about habits, students can stop the bad habit of procrastination, which is the habit of delaying assignments until the last minute. In particular, students should “recognize which craving is the driving behavior” of procrastination to (50).…

Style is not what is said, it is how it is said, and it should be in such a way that presents the main points of the piece with grace. It is important for writers not to use pompous jargon, as doing so only takes away from the precision of the piece and the clarity of the overall message. In a book titled On Writing Well by William Zinsser, a lifelong journalist and nonfiction writer, Zinsser addresses the use of jargon by saying that “the secret of good writing is to strip every sentence to its cleanest components. Every word that serves no function, every long word that could be a short word, every adverb that carries the same meaning that 's already in the verb, every passive construction that leaves the reader unsure of who is doing what—these are the thousand and one adulterants that weaken the strength of a sentence. And they usually occur, ironically, in proportion to education and rank”.…

Everyone has experienced classical conditioning and may not even know it. A common example is food: you ate something that made you sick and now you never eat it; you’re conditioned against the food because you had a bad reaction. In the most simple terms, classical conditioning or Pavlovian conditioning is learning a new behavior with different stimuli that create a reaction that can be repeated numerously through a recurring experiment. This kind of conditioning is seen in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, and goes along with the theme, psychological conditioning is potentially dangerous, which I agree with.…

In a real world, when we wake up, we do the same type of things every day. Some people eat the same type of food, wear the same type of outfits, have the same hairstyles; many people repeat the same type of thinking pattern, and often the same types of small decisions we make in our lives. We have been doing these things for so long that we don’t even realize that they are the sum of our habits, and that’s what leads us to what we are today. Habits are what build our life and character. Habits are different from person to person.…
