Sweet Gum Slough
Can you remember a time where something joyful happened? Most of us tend to cherish the joyful moments because it was once a time of happiness where nothing else mattered but that. In this essay, a little girl 's journey filled with joy during the 1930 's in Florida will be shared. She will meet new people that will bring out the best in her, mention her father’s journey about his beloved sport and World War I, and face difficult situations where she learned to face her fears and changes. To begin with, in the book titled Sweet Gum Slough, a little girl shares with us 6 years of her life experience while residing in Florida during the 1930 's. There she will meet new people that will bring the best out of her. She shares memories of her in school with her friends and of her and her father, she mentions a lot about those that she came across while living in Florida. Lizzie was one of her friends that she had met, she considered Lizzie to be her new best friend. She and Lizzie did many things together. They loved to play with each other after school, and go on adventures together.
Karssiens writes "Lizzie was my new friend, and I felt happy there with her in the hot, June sun, watching dozens of pale minnows taste our toes and ankles with their tiny soft lips" (22). The point I’m making is that the little …show more content…
She also enjoyed spending family time with her brother and sister. She loved going fishing, but mainly with her brother and mother, her dad was not into it and her sis-ter usually wanders off after a while.
