Sweatshop or sweat factory is a pejorative term for a workplace that has poor, socially unacceptable working conditions. Work at this type of factories is difficult, dangerous and underpaid. Sweatshops may also violate child labor laws and ignore the minimum wage stablished by law. According to Fair Labor Association around eighteen countries operate sweatshops including Bangladesh, Romania, Costa Rica, El Salvador, China, the Dominican Republic, India, Vietnam, Honduras, Indonesia, Armenia, Brazil, Haiti, Taiwan, the Ivory Coast, Nicaragua, Mexico, The United States and its territories.

When a consumer purchases a shirt for $5 at Forever21, most of the times that person is not thinking about why is it so cheap? how much does the person that made that shirt got paid for producing it? If the total cost of materials, labor and transportation of course is less than $5.
