Suzy and Leah is a short story written by Jane Yolen. This short story is about two girls that did not get along in the beginning, but towards the end, they got to know each other and became close friends. Suzy was a young girl with yellow hair and always smiled. She felt sympathy for the refugee kids that had to live in the rickety old buildings. Suzy would bring all kinds of treats to give to the other kids through the fence. All of the kids would grab the treats except one girl, Leah. She had dark hair and braids her bangs almost covered her eyes. Suzy was scared of Leah and Leah wasn't so fond of Suzy either. Leah felt as if they were treated like wild animals or even prisoners. Their feelings towards each other
