Sustainable Vacation Research Paper

Improved Essays
Taking a sustainable vacation is challenging. If you want your destination to encompass ecotourism principles and be environmentally responsible, you will want to find experiences that involve the local community. For example, an African wilderness experience should involve local guides who have a stake in protecting the biodiversity and the natural environment. Africa, especially South Africa and Botswana, are popular destinations because both counties have opportunities to experience the wilderness without harming the wildlife. Guides show visitors that maintaining healthy ecosystems to support the wildlife is critically important, hoping that you will go home and begin supporting conservation organizations.

They are called tap taps because the passengers will signal the driver to stop or go by simply tapping on the back of the truck. I learned this fact on a mission trip to Haiti three summers ago. The trip was a very eye opening experience where I learned that I have many things to be thankful for.…

“Land and health are intertwined, because land is the ultimate nurturer of the people” (Georgia Kyba, quoting an Indigenous Elder, 2014). The above statement emphasizes that, for many Indigenous peoples, connections with the land are essential for sustaining and upholding wellness. Contemporary literature affirms that colonization explicitly sought to disconnect Indigenous peoples from their land and culture. It is recognized that this disconnection from land and culture, in combination with a number of other historical, socioeconomic and structural determinants, is an enabling factor in the current health inequities faced by many Indigenous communities in Canada (Alfred, 2009; King et al., 2009). If we are to address these health disparities,…

Sustainable Survival Before evolving into beings that lived all across the globe, and even some existing in the orbital space, humans lived in small civilizations that continually moved from places to places. These past humans lived as hunter gatherers that only took what they needed from the environment around them without upsetting the homeostasis of the ecosystems. The 21st century is one filled with loss of global life stability, poverty and disappearing ecosystems. The existence of past civilizations has proven that these issues could pull modern humans into the same fate as past people have, leading them to their own doom, yet modern technology and economy can prove to create a new and sustainable world for many generations to come.…

The concept to of VFR travel is underestimated in Africa with specific reference to the Sub-Saharan region. The influx of migrants to developed countries in search of improved livelihoods had made a significant contribution to the development of regional tourism through VFR travel (Gamage and King, 1999; Feng and Page, 2000; William and Hall, 2000; Butler, 2003; O’Reilly, 2003). South African tourism focuses more on domestic than international VFR travel (Rogerson, 2015; South African Tourism Strategic Research Unit, 2013). Based on the studies conducted on promoting domestic VFR tourism, thus tourism plays an important role contributing to the economic development of the country (Rogerson, 2011).…
