Sustainable eating means choosing foods that benefit our health and our community. Sustainability is important because it leads to a healthier environment. For example, choosing foods sold locally at the farmer’s market helps benefit the environment because these family farmers have a personal connection to the land they work on and the food they create. People that prepare these foods use the freshest natural ingredients available and use less poisonous pesticides and chemicals than larger commercial farms.

I love the idea of the slow food movement because I enjoy slowly eating a meal with family and friends and being able to converse over dinner, lunch, etc. I like the idea of taking the time out to prepare a fresh home cooked meal because it allows you to better appreciate the finished product and involves paying more attention to the ingredients.
