There are many elements of suspense in the painting, “The Life Line”, created by Winslow Homer. First, an element of suspense is angry waves. This is important because they appear to be swallowing the people, and are stronger than the rop. Moreover, the painter used color to evoke a sense of suspense. For example, the darkness represents sadness and war. In addition the color red on the scarf represents blood and perhaps death. Lastly, uncertainty creates a sense of suspense because the life’s of the man and the woman is on the line and we don’t know what’s going to happen to them. In closing, the painting shows the bravery of a man in a dangerous situation.
