Suspense In 'The Lady Or The Tiger'

The short story, The Lady or the Tiger, creates a wide amount of suspense. The kingdom in the story does things differently than the way things should be done. Instead of people deciding weather one is guilty or not, the king thinks the person's fate will decide in the kingdom's arena. Being thrown into an arena cannot make a decision like that for someone. Even if not guilty, you may pick the door with the tiger behind it and be considered guilty. The things that are done in the kingdom are not done fairly. The king thinks that things should be done his way or no way. In reality, a court would decide if someone is guilty or not. In this story, being thrown into an arena decides for you. The arena in the story is different than arenas now.
