Susan Sprecher in her article, Investment Model, Equity, and Social Determinants of Relationship Commitment, investigates how relationship commitment is related to certain predictors (1988). In her study, the predictors focused on included investment, satisfaction, social support of friends and family, and equity experienced in the relationship (Sprecher, 1988). In her study, 197 couples that varied in age and stages in their relationship were asked to complete a questionnaire (Sprecher, 1988).
