Susan Smith From The War That Saved My Life

Decent Essays
Susan Smith from the War That Saved My Life is my favorite literary protagonist because she worked hard to provide a good life for the children and she saved the kids from a life of danger, risked her own life for the kids, and wasn't the cookie cutter mold for an ideal person because her flaws were shown and how much she needed the kids just as much they needed her.
Susan Smith is my favorite literary protagonist because she worked hard to provide a good life for the kids. Susan made a conscious effort to raise the children, even though she had no experience and had originally been forced into doing it. She used her money to buy the kids food and clothes and worked extremely hard to educate the kids, especially Ada because they refused to let her into school. She made secret plans to investigate why Jamie was trying to skip school and why he had come home with bloody gashes on his wrist. If Susan had not interrupted the class she wouldn't have discovered Jamie was being tied up in an effort to get him to stop using his left hand.

Susan cared and loved the kids so much she followed them to London to get them back and put herself in danger whilst saving herself from a certain

Inspirational, uplifting, and informational are three words I choose to describe the memoir: Becoming Ms. Burton wrote by Cari Lynn and Susan Burton. It’s not every day you get the chance to read a book that is able to enhance your own perspective on life, but Ms. Burton’s book did just that. The story, Ms. Burton’s story, give reader’s a major glimpse into the life of a woman suffering from her unearned disadvantages and the consequences that are tied to those disadvantages. The beginning of the story starts with Susan, Ms. Burton’s former self, and takes the reader’s on a journey through Susan’s life full of hardships from growing up in a crime-ridden neighborhood, to her introduction to crack cocaine. As the book moves forward, Susan’s story evolves into a bigger story that is connected to multiple social problems such as poverty, abuse, and racial discrimination in the justice system.…

The play is about a high school girl (Emily) returning to her former school after a tragic accident in the second grade, in which she was the only survivor, forced her to move and attend a different school. Eventually it is revealed that Emily has super powers when she saves the popular cheerleader (Jenny) from falling from the school’s rafters. Although this makes her loved by the students and teachers alike, a tryst with a popular male teacher (Mr. Christopher) fuels a jealous rage from Jenny, leading to Emily attacking Jenny with her powers.
