Throughout history humans have always been able distract themselves, or get curious about many other things. But, we have always been able to put those distractions away when the situation arrives when it can’t be used. In my own personal experiences when I have something important to do. However, Pinker feels that most students are not this way when she said “When their computers arrived, their reading scores fell off the cliff”(Pinker, 2015). She may be right about that certain students can easily get distracted, but she does not mention how other students may have benefited and utilized their computers usefulness. Ever since, the times of the greeks humans have criticized others for using the new emerging technologies. For example, Socrates criticized people for using the written word, or other people were criticized obtaining news by newspapers or talking on a phone. The devices we use today are just modern day examples of that. To conclude although, the author makes many valid points on why technology can be bad for students of the 21st century she fails to point out that it gives the students access to more knowledge, allows to them to be better students, and that it is choice that the student makes
