Many women entering the workforce want something more than just a job that just pays the bills. They want a fulfilling, challenging career that is more than just a job. However, it can be a daunting prospect of entering a field that is male dominant. Women have come along way in opportunities available and equality, but many stereotypes still remain. If anyone can advise women concerning career choice, education, training, or for advancing in an established career, then Susan McGalla is the person to ask.

Susan McGalla was raised in East Liverpool, Ohio, with two brothers and a father who was a football coach. Her parents treated her exactly as he did her brothers, expecting just as much from her as they did her brothers. Gender was never a consideration. Her parents instilled in her a

She frequently advises clients on branding, marketing, operational efficiencies, and more.

McGalla attributes much of her success to her self-confidence and work ethic, but also to her attitude. To McGalla, genders are neither helpful or hindering. She never allowed expectations or prejudices to affect her attitude or her work. This is the attitude that McGalla hopes all women will have regarding their careers. Attitude, hard work, and confidence are far more important in achieving a successful career than gender.

McGalla currently sits on the boards of HFF Inc., and the Magee-Womens Hospital Research Institue and Foundation. She also serves as the Director of Strategic Planning and Growth for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Formerly, she was a trustee of the University of Pittsburgh and director the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. McGalla frequently speaks to such women’s groups as the Women and Girl's Foundation of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Mellon University Speaker Series for CEOs, about the practicalities of women who want to be
