Wilma,
I am sadden to hear of your mother’s condition and am so sorry you need to withdraw from the Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership program at Thomas University.
At this time we are well past the add/drop period where students can withdraw with no financial or academic liability, however if you like, you may submit a letter of appeal, addressed to the Director of Academic Advising, Susan Ford, asking that you be dropped without liability. In this letter you will need to give as much detail as possible concerning your mother’s condition and what impact this will have on you and your ability to be successful this term. I know this may seem personal and intrusive during what must be a very emotional time, however Ms. Ford will also need a letter

The reason I applied for late drop after already withdrawing from the class was because I wanted to make sure I was withdrawn in case you didn’t accept my late drop petition. I was told that I could still apply for late drop after withdrawing to be safe.…

You made some great point throughout your post about how the trauma, dysfunction, and stress has impacted the family this family. From Irma’s perspective I can certainly emphasize and understand the need to protect Henry from potential dangers both in and outside of the home. But one does have to wonder the long term effects it will have on Henry. “From the earliest moments, months, and years with parents, family members, other adults, and children influence the way the brain and the rest of the body develop, as do factors such as nutrition and environmental safety”.…
