First off, A famous historical figure, Susan B Anthony, made drastic changes to how women are treated today. Women’s suffrage was a period in time where women had no rights. When the law that prohibited women to vote was still not repealed, it caused women like Susan B Anthony to take action and protest. In 1853, Anthony began to campaign for the expansion of married women’s property rights, and in 1856, she joined the American Anti-Slavery Society, delivering abolitionist lectures across New York State. She was a part of the National American Woman Suffrage Association also known as the NAWSA. She wanted to be just like her role model, Susan B Anthony. Alice publicly protested and tried to break the stereotype of being “ladylike”. The NAWSA was outraged with the “stunts” that Alice pulled. She decided to break off from the NAWSA and she made her own organization called the National Women’s Party, leaving NAWSA behind. During her lifetime, she held marches such as the one “On March 3, 1913, When Paul and her colleagues coordinated an enormous suffrage parade to coincide with–and distract from–President Wilson’s inauguration. “(history.com) This shows just how dedicated Alice was to this cause.
