Susan is a courageous person because she had the courage to stand for what she thought was right. Even though she knew that woman could not vote she wanted to be registered to vote. She was not alone 15 other women were with her thinking that the rule was unfair. In the beginning of the story, it said, “In November 1872, she and 15 other women in Rochester, New York, had demanded to be registered and had voted in the national election.”This is important because she stood up and told them how she felt and how she thought that she wanted to vote no matter what. Later on in the story, she showed courage because when the judge gave her an opportunity to say why she should not get punished she said what she wanted to. The judge then told her to be quiet and she spoke her thoughts. In the story it shows that she was courageous when she said, “Judge hunt became furious. The court orders the prisoner do sit down.” Also in the passage it said, “I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty. And I shall earnestly and persistently continue to urge all women that resistance to tyranny is obedience to god.” she was courageous enough to say that she does not agree with what the court was doing and how she told them what she wanted to
