She attended an anti-slavery convention in 1851 and met Elizabeth Cady Clayton who was involved in the temperance movement which was aimed at limiting or completely stopping selling and production of alcohol. Campaigning against alcohol is what inspired Susan to fight for women’s rights.This inspired her after being denied to speak at a temperance convention because she was a woman. She then believed that no one would take women in politics seriously until they had the right to vote like men.Susan and Elizabeth created the Women’s New York State Temperance Society in 1852. Soon they were both fighting for women’s rights.They also formed the New York State Women’s Rights Committee. Susan B. Anthony also started petitions for women to be able to vote and own property. Susan was one of the major helpers in the advancement of women she created many organizations to help advance women’s part in government.She also made many political speeches to protest.
