The setting is the most indispensable element of this book. In this book; Lord of the Flies , like most books, could never have carried out the way it did if it weren’t for the time and place it was conducted. In times of war a plane full of British schoolboys is mistaken for a fighter plane and is shot down over a deserted island. The pilot is killed and all that is left are the children and they are faced with the many obstacles such as; shelter, food and basic survival on this deserted island. These responsibilities of survival and rationality are totally up to these young boys. The story really tells a tale of the undertakings that these kids that are barely in their teens have to carry out with no adult assistance or supervision. At first,
