Survival In Rodger's Thank You, Ma Am

Decent Essays
Survival is a natural thing for mankind; therefore, death will never be an option for humans. It’s amazing how people are known to do impracticable things in order to survive. Sometimes even the law has to be broken in order to live a life with the necessities you need. People would steal, kill, and do pain to themselves in order to be alive.
When it comes to survival, people will steal necessities they need from anyone. For example, in the book “Thank You, Ma’am”, Rodger attempts to steal Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones’ purse. He wanted money so he can buy some blue suede shoes for himself. So as he attempted to steal her purse, she took him to her house, feeds him, gives him a lecture, and gives him the money for the shoes that he needed.

Cannibals and street thugs who kill other survivors run rampant through the wilderness as well. Although they have close encounters with all of these things, the man tries to protect the boy from physical harm.
