I conducted a survey of racial stereotypes in the news. The survey consisted of six questions: What is your gender? Do you go to Northview? How many times a week do you watch the news? Do you think that the news has an impact on racial stereotyping? How do you think racial stereotyping impacts a persons thoughts and beliefs? Do you believe in racial stereotypes? Forty-six people took the survey in which 60.87% (28) were female and 39.13% (18) were male. Also 60% (27) went to Northview while 40% (18) did not go to Northview. 86.96% of students said that the news has an impact on racial stereotyping, but only 17.39% of students said they believe in racial stereotyping and 47.83% said they do not.     Participating and observing the different interactions in Oliver Hall among the students and Sodexo workers I focused first on students I knew, because I did not want to assume their race/ethnicity based on looks.
