The thing I identify the most with is surfing. It makes me feel good inside and out, when I catch a good wave the feeling is unexplainable to where you would have to experience it for yourself. I always loved to be by the beach in Florida watching the waves crashing feeling that warm breeze rush through my hair, digging my toes in the sand its very soothing to me. It seems like everyone has a different feeling when they catch a wave for their first time. My first time was in Florida with my uncle tony in the water pushing me on his surfboard catching small shore waves, the feeling was amazing I was thinking of thousands of different things to a point where I was questioning myself, starting to get nervous trying to guess what might happen, …show more content…
Surfing drains me from all the negative energy in my life, all the bad things, all the stress. It’s all replaced with joy, freedom, and happiness. You can’t find happiness in everyday life like you can in surfing. The feeling of shredding a wave feels almost like floating on air, or like I am a part of that wave. That is the reason I surf.
Some of my surfing experience is in Westport, Washington. In my opinion, Westport has very aggressive waves unlike Florida nice and warm calm chill environment that is very inviting, Westport is cold dark cloudy nothing seams inviting in Westport so it’s kind of a challenge to build the confidence to get out there and surf. My first time surfing Westport wasn’t that fun. I was searching for that same feeling that I felt in Lake Worth Florida. I didn’t feel that in Westport, I think I had to be a little more experienced to surf waves in Westport because I didn’t catch one wave. I only got thrown around feeling regret that I could only get that feeling in Florida. After that I didn’t really build the confidence to go back out I just sat at home completely frustrated to the point

I enjoy hearing the chirping birds fly and dogs barking while walking in Myrtle Beach. Kids yelling and talking to their friends and others are talking in their loud voices. The blue salty ocean waves pushing against the sand and the wind whistling in your ear very loudly. Loud music playing from the giant black jukebox in the background.…

Ocean Beach may be known for its stellar surfing and savory foods, but it is also known for its historic buildings and architecture. One notable building is the Kraft Building which was built in 1927 for medical purposes. It was owned by Fred Kraft and housed a drug store that contained a soda fountain downstairs. It was also occupied by the historic Seaside grill, which was claimed to have the best pies in town. Rumor also has it that Charles Lindbergh was a common patron here.…

The United States Coast Guard describes the undertaking as “...one of the greatest in the history of the U.S. Coast Guard (“Bernard C. Webber, USCG”, 1).” The United States Coast Guard is a merger of five Federal agencies that were once independent, but with overlapping responsibilities. These agencies are the Revenue Cutter Service, the Lighthouse Service, the Steamboat Inspection Service, the Bureau of Navigation, and the Lifesaving Service ("U.S. Coast Guard History", 1). Since this is the case, one might think there are many other great rescues which could top the SS Pendleton, however this rescue is one of the best in both the past and present. The events throughout the SS Pendleton rescue defy how the world generally operates, for their…

Some positions within the Coast Guard should be evaluated closely to determine if these positions are beneficial to the Coast Guard Mission. My position in the Response Division, at Sector Buffalo, I feel should be eliminated because it is of no value to the Coast Guard. This position does not have a mission, there are no leadership opportunities, and is an ineffective use of Coast Guard resources. Every member of the Coast Guard should want to, and should be expected to, contribute in some way to one of the many Coast Guard missions. One of the main reasons that this position should be eliminated is because it is a Chief Petty Officer (CPO) position that does not offer any leadership opportunities.…

I exposed myself to new ideas and obstacles when I became an ocean lifeguard. Surprisingly, the hardest part about being a lifeguard is communicating with people from different cultures and backgrounds. For example, one beach has a large population of Spanish speaking immigrants. To communicate with them was a hefty setback for someone like myself who does not come from a Spanish speaking background. To adapt, I asked as many Spanish speakers as possible, how to say certain phrases until I was able to communicate with basic sentences to get my point across.…

Before analyzing any situation, one must begin at the very root of the cause in hopes understanding it better. Sea World is surprisingly not the first establishment that decided to economically strive through the exploitation of animals. Orca whales that were captured and delivered to their lifelong home in SeaWorld amusement parks went from swimming up to 100 miles a day to being put in tanks that are much too small for them. The average size of an orca whale can reach up to 20-26 feet long and can weigh as much as 22,000 pounds. The size of the orca whales in comparison to the tanks they live in at SeaWorld are said to be in comparison to a “bathtub.”…

Of course there is the beach itself too. The beach is where most of the daytime is spent riding waves, tanning, learning to skim board, building sand castles, and occasionally going sand crabbing in the evening. These may seem like insignificant places and memories but one thing that they have in common is that in all of them I was enjoying being a carefree, happy,…
