Supporting Positive Classroom Behavior

The most important factor in supporting positive classroom behaviours is to create a classroom that makes a student feel safe physically and emotionally. The brains of students are in the process of developing neural networks and can be moulded by the environment that they are in (Rossouw, 2014). In my classroom, I want students to feel calm through consistent student teacher interactions and encouraging students to develop their love of learning, without fear-based learning strategies. Creating a safe environment connects to AITSL (2011) standard 4.4 which is to ‘manage student safety’ and it is through the efforts of teachers that an environment can be created to be safe for students.
