Support The Endangered Panda Population

Decent Essays
I think the government should help support the endangered panda population. Currently, the population is 1,600 pandas living in the wild (Doc. 1). The population is increasing, but the pandas need a boost. I think that the government is the perfect source for that boost. The money can be used to plant new bamboo and make safe facilities for them to live in. The money will come from fundraisers like having to pay fifty cents in order to vote for the pandas names. Hopefully, people believe in the noble cause. If 10, 000 people vote for a name, that is 5, 000 dollars that the government have saved. The government can also use some of the money to pay for more care tenders that take care of the pandas. Also the money could buy some bamboo for

Climate Change is severely affecting animals that rely on land and specific food sources. This is true because once an animals land is destroyed it removes their food source as well. For example the Giant Panda's diet revolves around bamboo. Now that climate change is ruining bamboo forests the panda is left with little to no food. This forces them to migrate from their low elevation habitats, to higher elevations like mountains.…

There may be similar programs that have already addressed such issues, but they haven’t been working very well if the topic has been brought up in the first place. There are three important matters that affect this nation in the present: the animals, the education payment system, and the voting system. The first problem concerns the animals. On Sunday 10/16/2016 the world’s oldest living panda, Jia Jia had died in Hong Kong’s Ocean Park. According to Ocean Park, Jia Jia’s health had been “rapidly deteriorating” for several weeks and had gotten so bad on Sunday that the zoo officials decided to euthanize Jia Jia. Nicknamed the “Grandma Panda” Jia Jia is 37 years old which is equivalent to 114-years-old in human terms even though the average life expectancy of a giant panda is often just a little above 20 years with human care. Additionally, Jia Jia was also reported to have been suffering from multiple geriatric diseases, such as high blood pressure, arthritis, and cataracts on both eyes. Originally born in the wild, Jia Jia was rescued in 1980 and kept at Wolong for nearly a…

By saving land, federal money will go farther even though it is limited. “In 2012 only 18% of expenses were used to acquire critical habitats for conservation” (Platt 51). This budget is similar to a farmer buying 30 bags of seeds to plant but, only buying 10 feet of land. To grow the trees and make a profit the farmer must buy enough land to sustain the life he plans to grow. In addition, the world is losing many different habitats, like the “Tropical Mountain System”, that animals need to survive (Mongabay 56).…

The problem that needs to be solved is the homeless. We as the people are the only ones that have a voice and can change that. We could all donate money to be able to build buildings for the homeless so that they could eat meals and also have a place to stay and could be warm. While doing this we could find people to donate time to help the homeless get back up on their feet and help them get financially stable, So they would be able to go live a normal life.…

According to scientists, around 150-200 species of plant and animal go extinct every 24 hours. This statistic doesn’t seem so shocking until the realization comes that this is almost 1,000 times the natural rate for extinction. Humans contribute a great amount to this pandemic. A prime example is that of the dodo bird, which was famously hunted into extinction. Around 20,000 species are currently listed as threatened by extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).…
