Some of the groups at Barrington Square are for social interaction, or supportive and educational based on the common experiences and the needs of the elderly residences. For example they have a craft day. This group enables the residence to get out and socialized with the other residence instead of them isolating in their own apartments. The membership requirements are you must be a resident. The facility provides refreshment and give the residence a time to socialize. The rules of the support group include being respectful to others and everyone is giving a chance to share their concerns and opinions. The duration of the meetings are generally about an hour and fifteen minutes but they are known to go over because they have a speaker and residence have questions. Ms. Brayer encourages group participation by they give them some kind of incentive “if you feed them they will come (Brayers).” The ways she redirects the group is by being “assertive and keep the residence on tract with the purpose of the group (Brayers)”. If she has a resident who is talkative during the group she politely pulls them aside and has a talk with them in private, especially when she has a guest speaker during and educational group. She draws quit people out by being persistence with residence “she makes it a point to always speak to the residence when she see them out
