Hello classmates after reviewing healthfinder.gov the local support group organization webpage I identified with two support groups. One for Alzheimer’s disease and The American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better Program for women with active cancer. Both of these programs are located in Ft. Myers Florida where I am located. I thought this assignment was important because as health educators we will need to offer our patients/clients alternatives. The benefit I thought with offering support groups is it gives the individual a chance to be a part of a team/group of people that maybe experiencing similar concerns and issues. By fostering this as a option there can be continued education, better perception about the disease process and empathy
