Neuman states the core health of the client system is much like the nucleus of an atom. The atom has an outer shell that protects the nucleus much like the client system is orbited by defensive lines. These defensive lines can be disturbed and eventually penetrated by a physiological assault. Once penetrated, the client system is subjected to stressors which may result in an imbalance or illness. It is the nurse’s responsibility to intervene on the client system’s behalf when disturbances are noted, such as the disturbance food insecurity can bring to the physiological well-being of the client. The nurse is then responsible for providing interventions which may help the client increase their defense system. Nurse interventions in this project included reaching out to those students that qualify with information and links so they may enroll in SNAP, reporting on the food pantry resource in which all university students may benefit with no need to qualify for assistance, providing information on stores within walking distance that have limited but available fresh food, and creating a resource guide so other staff may guide students towards maintaining their lines of defense through adaptation of their surroundings and
