Equitable Outcomes If certain policies were put into place and enforced, it could have led to equitable outcomes for Precious. The caseworker from the welfare system should have conducted more thorough and regular visits, and could have noticed the toxic environment and that Precious was abused. Children show different signs of being abused such as physical marks, and behavior changes such as fear and anxiety. Precious probably showed some of these signs, and it would have been obvious that something terrible was happening to her. Unfortunately, the caseworker did not notice, or did not care enough to inquire and intervene (“Signs of Child Abuse”, 2016; Sapphire, 1996).…

After graduating in 1979, with the experience of volunteering in Juvenile hall, she then developed an interest in working with children and families and that is where she got her first job working with DCF as a Coordinator with the Foster Care Program. Children were her focus and she loved working with them. She complimented Barry for helping her find her voice as she stated she was very shy while attending school and the thought of her going into being an administrator was not something she would do. She stated that by being in this role, it keeps her honest, aware of the challenges of the people she supervised, and she always keeps a case load to stay close to the work. She believe in family, love, and has a deep connection to her spiritual…

In regards of my Unit 9 assignment, I had the opportunity to visit Racine’s Workforce Department, Children/Father First program. I made an appointment with a wonderful woman who is the supervisor for the program. As I observed, a typical day of a supervisor who also has a case load, looked as the following: I arrived at 8:00 a.m. and Mrs. Price was already at her desk typing away on her computer. Mrs. Price informed me that she had a busy day and this is why she picked today to have me sit in with her, to taken just what a day in the field of a caseworker is actually like.…
I advocated for clients by educating employers about the unlimited potential of a person living with a developmental delay. I often found myself fighting against social injustices, such as discrimination and finding the dignity and worth of the client I was serving, despite his or her life challenges. After careful consideration, I decided to become properly trained in advocacy and started my academic career in the pursuit of a Social Work Degree. Now that I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in social work and became licensed in the state of Mississippi, I am prepared to go into a more specialized field of study. This is the reason I am pursuing my master degree in social work at Louisiana State University.…
