Due to the supernatural events in the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, the fear and ambitions of the main character, Macbeth, seem to override his once level headed self. In the play many supernatural activities affect the characters and overall perception of the play. For example, Macbeth and Banquo seek out the three weird sisters to discover their fate, after Macbeth has Banquo killed and later sees the ghost of Banquo, after many strange events Macbeth seeks out the three weird sisters once again to see if his fate has changed. The supernatural plays a powerful role in the decision of the characters and influences them to act more sinister and selfishly.

Therefor he believes that no one will harm him and he can take on any enemy that he may encounter. The sisters also reveal, “Be lion-mettled, proud, and take no care Who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are. Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill Shall come against him,” (4.1.94-98). The sisters tell him do not fear those that hate you or fear you, be proud like a lion. He is told that he will not be defeated until Birnam Wood comes to him and he doesn’t think this is possible.
