Superman may have started as a comic character, but he has evolved greatly in the 75+ years since he first appeared in a graphic novel in 1938 as well as in film. With reference to Superman: The Movie (1978) and Man of Steel, the evolution of the filmic technology and of the particular film will be discussed.
If one has to analyse the posters, one can clearly see the change and evolution of filmic technology evident in these films. In posters 1 and 2, there are minimal details of Superman and his abilities, especially in poster 1. Posters 3 and 4 show more detail of the city of New York and his incredible ability to fly at high speed. There is also better picture quality compared to the posters of Superman making it evident to us that technology

In terms of costumes, Man of Steel’s is tough rubberised armour, darker in colour and no bright red undergarments which one can see in poster 4. This emphasises his gloomy and more serious humourless character whereas in poster 1 Superman’s is more cloth-like and brightly coloured giving us a heroic and comic book feel. Also, the “S” symbol on Superman’s chest has also changed over time from poster 1 and 2 to poster 3 and 4. The yellow has been eliminated and a darker red is used emphasising his character even more. Moreover, the demolished city in the background of poster 4 reflects the idea that he is an imperfect superhero in an imperfect world. He too has his flaws and makes mistakes that has their costs, expressing the idea that he is just as human as us. The character development in Superman has evolved immensely over the years as he embraces his humanity compared to the 1978 Superman that seems to “do everything right all the time.”
The most effective poster for advertising Superman: The Movie (1978) is poster 2. It is eye-catching and represents the colours of Superman very well. It also shows his ability to fly and get strength from the sun as well as his father’s face in the clouds which makes us excited to watch his origin story. The most effective poster for advertising Man of Steel is poster 4 as it not only shows his flight superpower but also the destroyed

Superhero films are quite popular and can be told over and over again from different points of views. By having these films being remade so many times one is able to observe the evolution of the film. Here one takes note of the evolution of Spider-man and The Amazing Spider-man. The time difference between Spider-man and The Amazing Spider-man is not as great a gap as one would think, however the time difference is large enough for technology to advance enough to make a great impact.…

Mike Kelley, considered one of the most inspirational American artist of our time, with his contemporary, messy, and unusual mash-ups of thrift shop media. Kelley's art occasionally opposed the usual art world value. In his highly recognized piece More Love Hours than Can Ever Be Repaid (1987), Kelley stitched together stuffed animals and blankets purchased at a thrift shop on a canvas, to portray the symbolism that a toy, once a loving gift from a parent to a child, is now damaged and unwanted at a thrift store. Kelley also addresses the issues of teens entering adulthood and enduring unknown responsibilities by creating an altar, with overlapping half melted candles called The Wages of Sin (1987). In Switching Mary's (2004), a short film that represents traumatic repressed memories through a disturbing recreation of his high school yearbook pictures.…

Breaking Down the Stereotype Alexie, author of “Superman and Me”, uses the trope analogy to compare Superman breaking down a door to breaking indian stereotypes through education. Alexie states that as a child he read Grapes of Wrath while other children were reading Dick and Jane (216). While his reading skills were impressive because he was an Indian child these talents were ignored. Alexie argues that Indian children were held to oppressive stereotypes were they are “expected to fail in the non-Indian world” (217). Yet by reading, Alexie was able to disprove these clichés by learning to read.…

Sherman Alexie was an exceptionally smart boy. He was able to piece together the puzzle of reading without knowing the end result. All he wanted to do was love the same thing his father loved, and it just so happened to be books. He was able to decode the words in his Superman comic book with the help of images and common sense. The children on the Indian reserve he grew up on held onto the thought that they did not need to work hard towards the goal of learning things in school, but that they would be picked up by the other people around them therefore making it an endless cycle.…

Almost every Marvel character has one super human ability, where it comes down to one person with super strength, one person with super speed, and one person with the ability to fly. In DC the characters have more than one ability, for example Superman doesn’t just have eye-beams or incredible strength or incredible speed or the ability to fly, but all of those and more (McKenzie, 2010). Marvel movies are better than Dc, and why is that, on an average since the 2000`s marvel movies have averaged a 60 percent of Fan who voted they like marvel more while Dc movies only get 47 percent of fan votes . Marvel is more related to real life in terms of cities like New York, where in Dc the locations are in outer space or in places no one has heard of before. This has let me to believe that as of now marvel is more favored by fans than DC because of who goes to see the movies and purchase the products, and Marvel sells more than…

So, naturally :-), I decided to compare these two superheroes in several categories and then to decide which one is better. 1. Round 1-The Technology; Every true fan of Batman knows that this superhero possesses a very wide range of the most various hi-technology equipment, due to the fact that Bruce Wayne is a wealthy man, which money can be put to good use when fighting off Superman. Well, looking from the other side, Superman has the mighty kryptonite, despite that fact in a classic adaptation of the comic book “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2”, we actually have the opportunity to see that Batman was farther than able to go toe-to-toe with Superman by using its super- powered mechanical…
