Joe Shuster was a comic artist during the early 1900s is famous for making the character Superman. Surprisingly, for a person who believed in Judaism, his character Superman has more in common with Jesus than with Abraham. From research, Superman represents the ideal character from DC comics to compare to Jesus. Using Jesus Gospel story, Superman can share similar values like Jesus from the way he acts, resurrects people, and grows stronger after coming back from the dead.

The Gospel story is a necessary part of Christianity because it helps to explain why God forgave the sins of the world, and one miracle is where he feeds five thousand people, “5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children” in Matthew Ch. 14

27, Jesus saw his fate from the start when he was brought to his Earth as a human experiencing temptation from the Devil and even death from non believers. (New Living Translation, Acts Ch. 1-31) Jesus became incredibly powerful when he was resurrected on the third day a When saw that he had been resurrected and later ascended into heaven having everlasting life in New Living Translation, Luke Ch. 24. Superman relates to Jesus because he was slaughtered by kryptonite from Lex Luthor, but when he was resurrected he did not become as powerful as Jesus, but he did improve his ability all around allowing him to do more than could not do …show more content…
Jesus came to Earth to fulfill the prophecy. When Jesus was younger, his parents were disappointed in him for sneaking off to talk with the elders in the temple and he responded by “Didn’t you know I must be in my Father’s house” (New Living Translation, Luke Ch. 2). This shows how Jesus knew his duties because he knew where to go to learn more of his father’s message for and spread these teachings to the people. Superman has similar goals of wielding his powers for good. His earthly father always said. “You are my son. …he sent you here for a reason” (Man of Steel). When Superman came across his biological father Jor-El at The Fortress of Solitude, Jor-El said, “You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will raise behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time you will help them accomplish wonders” (Man of Steel). Superman biological father believed that humans make mistake only because they did not have someone to look up to, but sending his only son Superman will only help direct their path in better future and how the humans can do more than ever before having Superman by their side. It compares to God because he believed that the only person who can stay true to his word was his son and it relates perfectly to Jor-El message because humans did stumble, but from Jesus directing them in a better path it helped

As we have been on our Lenten pilgrimage, and have moved into Holy Week, we have been into the wilderness, disrupted the temple, and now we are staring at a cross and the impending arrest, betrayal, and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. However, even with this reality, in this passage this evening, we find a Jesus, the mover and shaker that he is, flip that script one last time of what it means to serve God. In the Gospel reading, Jesus starts to wash the feet of his followers, and the man who will come to betray him. Let’s for a second digest this, Jesus, the Son of God, is washing and drying the feet of his followers. This action of humility was unheard of during this time for a person this powerful and important taking the time to wash the feet of his followers is something else.…

N.T. Wright, in his book Simply Jesus, tells his view on who Jesus was, what he was trying to accomplish in his public career, and why it all matters. He describes that Jesus is much more complex than most people think. Many Christians believe that they know Jesus. Wright argues that Jesus can’t be understood easily. He uses the analogy of the perfect storm to show the complexity of Jesus which consisted of the Roman oppresive force, Jewish expectations, and the wind of God.…

Not only did God ask Abraham to follow him, but he also promised to bless him and make of his descendants a great nation. When God commands Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his beloved son, Abraham is ready to obey God, but God chooses not to require the sacrifice. I believe that this is an important step in the relationship of God with his people, as it shows how much God loves his people if they follow God’s will. The promise of God to Abraham and his descendants is something that can be found through the history of Christianity. The promise of God continued from Abraham to Isaac, to Jacob (known as Israel) and then to Joseph (Jacob’s son) who God used to take Abraham descendants to a secure place (Egypt).…

N.T Wight, in his book Simply Jesus argues that modern people are guilty of oversimplifying Jesus, because they do not understand who Jesus really was, what he did, and why that matters. To truly understand who Jesus was, we must look at him from a first century perspective. People believed in many different ideas than what is believed today, so it is necessary to think in a way similar to how people in the first century thought in order to have a better understanding of who he was as a historical figure. To further understand Jesus, Wright argues that one must also be familiar with what he did in his lifetime. In his lifetime, Jesus gave a taste of the reality of what having God as king would be like, and acted as a walking temple.…
