In the story “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie, one theme is that adults can can inspire children to have a passion. During the story Sherman describes his father as, “one of the few indians who went to a catholic school on purpose, was an avid reader of westerns, spy thrillers…” This shows that by reading all the time and attending a good school he influenced his son to try to be better at school as well. Many parents try to influence their kids to do something that they have, to have the same passion as them because it gives the parent and child something to bond over.
